Am I right in understanding that you're doing a si9ngle board to
support the many points that are touching the mirror rather than
the expected triangles on triangles?
I owuld expect that a soft foam just glued to the back board
would make for all kinds of wandering surface problemss as all of
the pads would be applying their own into the surface.
