Re: [ATM] Patent Application for an Automatic Telescope
Interesting idea,,,, some may joke at it, but, if the scope is hooked upto a
laptop, that has inputs USB inputs, then a scope mounted gps would give you
its exact location, an onboard equilizer system with an electric motor for
electric extending legs to move the legs in and out to adjust for perfect
level. And toss in an digital compass on both forward and rear of the scope
to feed into the computer, this will give you its direction. a digital input
device/ccd on the scope to detect the bright star, compare it and then move
to a second location, if found would align the scope. input this into the
computer with a database of brightstars for alignment and optical
recognizion software and bingo, your in busness. Although, a 6" dob would
cost you in the area of about 5,000 or so including software and electronic
hardware. Here is a better idea, mount a telrad, learn the stars, and enjoy
the night sky. :)
