You're right, but I'm not sure it is still a Luri.

The beauty of the complementary curves is the ease of producing the scope.  They cut the work by over half and eliminate the need to test for chromatic aberrations.  

For an astrograph (film or CCD) I think you will find that it is good enough by any reasonable measure.
