Re: [ATM] Dental Stone Tool
I've always dug the hole first with an iron tool so I can't
really address the problems of wearing out the tools. However,
that said, I've seen a large number of people asking what to do
when their tiles have wonn through and need to reapply new tiles
to their tool.
Theoretically, the tiles should last for the grinding but some
grinders don't do the hogging agressively enough and end up
wearing the tool more than others. This lack of agressivness
ends up with thin tiles and thus the need to replace them to the
detriment of the grinding process. For small mirrors where the
depth of the saggita isn't that much, the tile tool will do a
good job from the flat but it is a lot wiser to dig the hole
first and then cast you tool on the curved surface to insure that
you don't have to apply new tiles midgrinding.
Do what you want to but I consider it a lot simpler for the
firrst time grinder to do the majority of the glass removal with
an iron tool so as to not worry about the possibility of having
to redo the tile surface.
