[ATM] Dental Stone Tool

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on your list. I am attempting to make my first mirror, from a 8" f6 full thickness pyrex blank from Newport Glass. I am using a dental stone and tile tool. I am wondering if I should have sealed the tool. I read that dental stone will not cause scratches and sealing was not needed, but I am not sure. The tiles have worn to where in places around the edge the dental stone is contacting the mirror, is that OK? Fine grinding seems to progressing well, but I am seeing a few large pits with the magnifier. I have been carefull about cleaning between grits, I don't think that is the problem.
