For those that like to be as environmentally friendly as possible, one
could reduce used ferric chloride to ferrous chloride before disposal by
adding Vitamin C.   Ferrous chloride is essentially equivalent to what
humans excrete as a result of eating iron fortified foods and
supplements, so

 one really can't argue that adding a few more ounces to the waste
stream is significant pollution.  (Iron supplements are typically

 ferrous sulphate, or perhaps ferrous gluconate, but there is so much
chloride ion in waste water from other sources, that the

 difference doesn't really matter.)

Without knowing the concentration of ferric chloride in circuit board
etchant, I can't calculate how much vitamin C one would need to reduce
it all.  Anybody know what that concentration typically is?
