Mark's right, I skimmed over the fact that it is a GEM.  Given that, I'd 
probably suggest that you consider using silicone RTV to fasten the 
mirror to a back support.  Three blobs about 1 inch diameter, and 1/8th 
inch thick centered at about the 42% radius should do just fine.  Be 
sure to clean and dry all parts (both the glass and the back plate) 
throughly before applying the silicone and allow several days to cure 
before testing.  You can check the list Archives for better directions.

As for side supports, I would suggest that you try without them first 
and see what happens.
