Re: [ATM] working with pitch

As a general rule, whatever seems to work is acceptable technique. Oil from
your hands, though may make the pitch surface behave erratically on the
glass. You might want to wipe it off with turp or alcohol.

I use a 250 Watt heat lamp to warm the surface of pitch, or warm water to
warm it all the way through before pressing it into shape.

Subject: [ATM] working with pitch

Hello ATM

When I was making my full pitch lap because I believe that my mirror has
hyperbola the pouring of the pitch got to be difficult. It was stickier
than usual. I've still got some of it in my fingure nails. It didn't pour
right so the lap became uneven. So then I got the idea that I could use a
hair drier to heat the lap while I use hand pressure to docture up the lap.
This idea has worked so far. Does anybody here know if this is an
exceptable technique?

David
