I've used the new synthetic pitch that is available from Salem Distributing. It doesn't smell bad, kind of sweet!
I pours very nicely.
Cutting channels with a razor blade is extremely clean and nice material to work with.
The few flats I've used it on seem to polish just the same as pitch.
The only thing I've noticed different is it doesn't take a charge like pitch does, but it still polishes out OK.
My .02 cents.
I would buy more and replace eventually all the black stuff that I think smells good!
