[ATM] Synthetic pitch

Hi folks,

my 2 cents worth. In South Africa we don't seem to have any supply of
pitch at all. I have used bitumen for polishing about 8 mirrors without
problems. I got a 5l tin from a local supplier. It is VERY soft so I
hardened it with resin (colophany resin) which I get from a local
pharmacy. Resin is pine resin (I think) and it is very hard. With the
bitumen I have I use 50/50 and get a good hardness for my summer
weather. It is a bit hard in winter though.

I have not had any problems with chipping except in winter when it is
VERY cold and the bitumen is then correspondingly VERY hard.

It is is the same to work with as normal pitch i guess....very messy,
very smelly...sigh...I hate the stuff!
