I am wrestling with this a little bit as I read and Translate Maksutov from
Russian to English. At times I hesitate keeping an entire sentence complete
and un-split...because it's so long and involved. I prefer to make two
sentences. I find it easier to read and understand...and hopefully that
will be the case for other English readers.
But I don't want to dilute the clarity of thought...the thoroughness of what
he covered.
Hopefully I can provide a translation that contains the reasoning and facts,
but not in a stuffy-sounding style. (I must admit when I first started
reading Maksutov - it was very difficult for me. Long, complex sentences
and complex grammar. I'm getting more used to it.)
Give me a couple years to finish this project. (Which may never end...if I
find copies of other things Maksutov wrote...or stuff by Mikhelson...that's
lots more to translate.)
