I did my first mirror with the a used early copy of the "Amateur
Telescope Making" (about 1/4" thick) and the only complaint I had was
from my mother who objected to the "Spit Test" to determine the
approximate ROC during coarse roughing out of the curve. We did have
electricity so kerosene lamps were not required but I did get more than
one burn off a hot lamp housing.

Get the books and read, then tackle your first mirror. By the way, mine
have fire proof paper so I'm safe from Richard.
