Thick. Completely cover the surface of the glass. Any exposed glass will
stick to the pitch and will make it harder to separate the lap from the
mirror. I guess the consistency of apple sauce is a fair description. You
want more polishing agent than water. Paint it on the glass surface with a
brush.
