RE: [ATM] Making the pitch tool
I did something stupid this summer - tried adding a little mineral spirits
to hot pitch on a burner. I did not realize how hot it had gotten. It
instantly combusted, and I instantly found myself running out the basement
with a flaming bucket of molten tar hanging off a stick. Luckily, the flame
extinguished by the time I got it outside. Definitely don't try this at
home, folks.

I can't speak to the absolute danger of melting over gas, but I do know
pitch
itself is quite flammable. Ya know, $10 is rather cheap insurance...

P.S. Pitch melts at about 150 degrees F. It does not heat up in a microwave
(don't ask) although you can melt it under water in a microwave.
Clear skies.
