Re: [ATM] comprehensive thin mirror grinding

Marco,

One reason there is no one-stop resource is because large thin mirrors
are difficult (putting it mildly), and lots of people have developed
their own techniques that solve the particular problems they have.
Problems depend on the work environment, whether you are working by
hand or not, etc.

If you have made mirrors before, you might start thinking about a 16"
x 1" thick mirror. Then go larger from there and find what works for
you. I wouldn't recommend a large thin mirror as a first mirror. (I
can't remember what your experience level is.)

Figuring large mirrors is an art form, in my opinion, and the way to
learn it is sheer persistence and careful observation.... and lots of
beer. That's how we did our 30" F/3.8.
