I herniated my navel attempting to hand polish a 30" f/~4.1 Pyrex mirror
with a 20" pitch lap. Particularly when the polish began to develop,
and contact between the tool and the lap was excellent, I was using
about all the energy I could muster to move the tool back and forth
across the mirror, using a basic 'W' stroke. Then pop! After surgery and
a period of healing, I completed the polishing with a machine.
