Well, I *do* get to set the policy for the list (heh heh, unbridled POWER!). 
:-)

The list was initially configured with the alternate behavior (reply to the 
message replies to the list). Many members complained that if they wanted to 
reply only to the sender, they had no way except to copy it off the email, as 
both "reply" and "reply all" emailed the whole list. In addition, there were 
some folks who inadvertently posted private information to the list.

After some research, we decided the Mailman suggested way is best. It's also 
fairly intuitive as well (hit reply to reply to the poster, replay ALL to 
replay to all list members).

If only email programs came with a DWIM (Do What I Mean) button!
