[ATM] re: Video detector tube

I am the disgruntled owner of a JVC professional Video (no technical support
after three years) camera that used one tube to collect a colour image for
recording on standard VHS tape cartridges. Since these units replaced the
three tube versions I am wondering if anyone on the list is familiar with
them. The reason behind this request concerns the possibility of using a
similar coating on the detector screen of a photo-multiplier tube to give a
colour image instead of the monochrome image that photo-multiplier tubes
usually display. I know that photo-multiplier tubes work by accelerating
electrons, not photons, but there are some materials such as Germanium that
respond to a multiple of spectral energies with corresponding emission
levels.
