I would think that someone on the list with a lot more savvy than I have
could use a CCD or CMOS detector to capture a frame and compare it to
another frame,  differences created by turbulence would be highlighted  by
subtracting one set of points from the other, Not quite portable, but there
are some decent Laptops that would do well. Just need a software program
that would exaggerate differences. Alternatively several frames combined
would exaggerate a star spot should the turbulence be significant.
