RE: [ATM] turntable for grinding mirror
No not at all. I have one and I think it makes grinding 25-30% faster
than by hand.

Subject: [ATM] turntable for grinding mirror
Thought I'd throw this out there ....
planning my next grinding project, a 11" f/6 or so.
Anyway, to avoid doing the "barrel waltz" I was thinking of making a
motor- driven turntable to grind on. The table would slowly rotate as I
ground the
mirror. Of course, I'd still have to periodically give mirror a turn,
as
always.
The advantage of this is I can grind on a fixed work location, even
sitting
or kneeling. I won't have to make a grinding table to walk around.
Also, I
am thinking it may help with generating the surface of revolution.
Is there a problem with doing this?
Thanks,
Rob
