RE: [ATM] Figuring nightmare I need your help - part II

Hi Folks,

Well this is now 45 minutes of polishing later...

I have continued the COC strokes with the tool just overhanging the edge
of the mirror. Things have now progressed from bad to worse...I am so
frustrated. I seem to have good contact with the mirror as polishing has
a nice heavy drag without any sticking. I have been cold pressing every
15 minutes for 20 minutes.

The total overcorrection is still around 14mm BUT I now have a large
central hill and the overly parabolized edge. Readings are:
0.0mm
-5.8mm
-1.7mm
8.0mm

I am going to remake my lap this afternoon and build a full size lap
perhaps that will solve the problem. Because at the moment absolutely
nothing that I try is returning my mirror to a sphere. Things are
bizarrely uncontrolable, why should a short COC stroke create that sort
of a figure? So maybe a new lap is the answer

Brent

Ps. Let me know if you guys are getting tired of my whining...'cause I
sure am...
