[ATM] re: Radio Astronomy
You didn't mention what the frequency input on your Radio Jove unit is, it
makes a big difference to how you set up your satellite dish which is
intended to operate in the GHz range. Satellite dishes are limited in range
of motion unless modified to move from horizon to horizon. That the Radio
Jove unit is asking for a dipole antenna suggests to me that you will be
dealing with a much longer wavelength than the dish is set up for. There are
quite a few ARRL people on the list that probably will want to know the
frequency of your unit, possibly even may have one themselves. One
alternative to putting up a full wave dipole is to use 1/8 wave or 1/4 wave
with reduced sensitivity and a more accurate trimming circuit. RF arrays can
be used as well.
