Sounds like you are working down the outer zones.  When you do so, the 
edge's Radius of Curvature lengthens, which increases parabolization.  When 
you analyze the 'high point' of the zone, you usually find that the best 
place to attack is just inside this point.  And, to keep 'contact' with the 
center, you want to add in a lot of strokes towards the center.
