Sounds like an easy technique for attaching teflon for bearings. ;)
All kidding aside, a fellow club member (Aart Olsen) made a superb
lightweight secondary holder from PVC for our club dobsonian. The
purpose of this was to save weight in the secondary cage, because the
16" mirror was made from 1" plate glass. For details on this scope, see
http://bi-staff.beckman.uiuc.edu/~melockwo/telescopes/16in_CUAS/16in_CUAS.html
Click on the link at the bottom of this page to see the construction
pictures, the first of which shows the secondary holder.
Aart suggested first sanding the PVC, then coating it with a thin
layer of epoxy. The epoxy can adhere to the PVC. Then, we glued the
secondary to the epoxy layer (rather than the PVC), to which the
silicone can adhere. You can see the thin epoxy layer in the first photo.
It's working so far.

If this fails, we'll email the list.
