Depends upon how much you scrounge and how much you buy.
I could probably put together a scope for less than $50 (the cost of
aluminizing) if I really put my mind to it.
There's plenty of pallets around that will provide all of the nice red and
white oak for the tube and other such parts and the glass can be found
eventualyl in a dumpster behind one of the glass shops in the area. Grit
can often be scrounged from the sandblaster when he throws away some used
grit and you just wash it out well and grade it.
Then again, on the other hand, you can end up spending more than what a
cheap dob from Discovery, Orion or such for your own handmade scope.
