If you are a good scrounger, you could make a telescope for the price 
of aluminizing your mirror.

	The question is a little too broad to give a good answer, but 
if you are on a tight budget, you can get a lot of the parts needed 
by dumpster diving, getting the mirror blank at a local glass 
supplier, making a slide PVC pipe focuser, and other such cost 
cutting measures. I can't really pin a cost on that otherwise. I 
don't doubt that with real frugalness, a scope could be put together 
for something less than 100 dollars. Most of this would be in the 
aluminizing.
