Re: ATM Glass Tile?

The biggest problem that I see with people having tile breakage problems is
that they either dig out the dental stone from between the tiles or epoxy
them to the base of whatever. The big thing here is that I fully bury the
tiles into the dental stone, making sure that any large bubbles are filled
with additional material. As such, I have had absolutely no problems with
tiles breaking unless they were tiles that hit the edge of the tool and
weren't beveled down.
FWIW, I'm working on some flats at the moment (30 1.5" and 8 3" flats) in
several rounds of dental stone and have just finished the 5 micron grind and
am getting ready for the polishing by pads of the glass. The glass is fully
buried in the stone and the only scratches that I've gotten have been on one
disk when some grit came out of a bubble. Fortunately, the scratch was fine
and a few moments more of grinding at the 5 micron has removed the scratch.
I'm going to paint the surfaces with some lacquer and wipe the lacquer off
of the face with thinner before starting the polishing.
