They probably will.  FWIW, the 1" tiles are actually about 7/8" square and
are placed on 1" centers.  If you are really in trouble with getting tiles,
go stop by the glass store and ask for some scrap glass.  Anything from
about 1/2" up will do fine for squares to make for the tool.  Use the 1/4"
glass rather than the single thickness glass as you will want some vertical
surface for the plaster to hold to although smaller pieces of the single
thickness will also work fine as there isn't much glass that is going to be
ground away by this process if you have already made your curvature well.
