Re: ATM Cutting plywood circles

Is there a trick to avoid burning the router bit when cutting ply circles?

Use a straight, sharp, carbide tipped bit. A sacrificial backing board
will help make a clean exit cut. Keep the router moving. I have found
that spiral bits, especially up-cut spirals, make rough cuts. I make at
least four passes to go through 3/4" plywood. An 1/8"or 1/4" roundover
finishes the edge nicely if you're not putting a veneer on the edge. Fill
any edge voids with a 'router dust' and epoxy mix (or plane epoxy) before
coating it (I like spar urethane).
