Re: ATM Is micro facetting enough?
>...anyone...tried...micro facets only
Better than micro-facets are nano-facets. I'm sure femto-facets would be
better still, but these can only be made with an AFM. I'm not sure if
atto-facets are possible. But even if they were, it would be hard to say
where they were and/or in what direction or how quickly they were moving.
OK, removing tongue from cheek. Yes, I've channeled a lap exclusively with
small facets. First you need to sit with your legs crossed. Then balance
the lap on your head. Now begin chanting over and over ohfortheloveof....
All right, seriously. No really this time. I continue to believe that
channels perform three and only three valuable functions. They allow the
pitch someplace to flow when pressing, thereby speeding a good seat. They
help water penetrate a locked up lap, thereby freeing it. Their presents
and/or absents can be used to adjust the figuring qualities of a lap.
Finally, though I'm sure this won't be the last time I write this, there is
NO edge effect. Sharp facets edges don't work better than rounded ones.
Squared edges don't work better than angled ones. There is NO edge effect
(see, I told you). Channels remove lap which would otherwise, in a well
seated lap, be helping to polish.
