ATM Junking a Polishing machine, anyone want it?
Hi folks;
I've bought a new to me (ie used) polishing machine for my shop, a
Strausbaugh 6DF-2 (dual 22" capacity spindles, which supposedly if you
run one spindle, you can do a 24" on it,) its for commercial
production, but it'll be fun to play with after hours. 8+)
So, it is replacing a very old, four spindle polisher, that probably
dates from the 50's, if not WWII. Elgin type.
It is big, (80" x 44" footprint) heavy (1500 lbs or more, I'm guessing)
missing one motor, we only use two spindles due to the large tooling
size we run, the main spindle bearings are shot, and the polishing pan
is heavily encrusted with colloidal silica deposits.
Anyway, I hate scraping any kind of polishing machine, it does work, but
needs a lot of help.
I'm in the San Francisco bay area, so if someone wants to come and take
it away (a big job in its self) give me a holler, it'll probably be a
couple of weeks before it has to leave, one way or another.
I will re-emphasize, it does work, two spindles, but it needs a LOT of
work.
