Commertially this is done with vacuum.  I've had problems with blocking
pitch debonding when both pieces weren't initially hot.  Perhaps I should
use more wax in the mix.  My personal "new" favorite is 60 second epoxy,
which takes about 4 minutes to set, applied around the edge.  I use to use
30 minute epoxy.  Heat (blow torch) debonds both fine.

Yes, and it sucks.  I use four retaining posts around the perimeter of the
glass.  They extend to just below the working surface.  This at least keeps
the spinning glass in place until I can shut it all down.
