Mike, I absolutely agree with your aperture dividing line for going truss or
tube,  and the reasoning is right-on,  but my aesthetic is exactly the
opposite.  I see the tube as elegant and streamlined, even "organic" when
properly done; the truss as contrived and busy.  It needn't be a religious
war however; there are sound engineering reasons for using either, depending
on design goals and factors such as size and ecconomics; too, there have
been many examples of "cool" scopes having followed both of these design
paths.
