Re: ATM 22" binocular design

Bruce,

Your Cad work is Beautiful!

I especially like the idea of adding an adjustment mechanism to torque the
top of the OTAs for the final bit of inter-scope collimation! I've been
thinking about something similar for a while, Guess I'll have to stop
thinking and start doing :)

Regarding your sliding Tertiary/Focuser IPD adjustment system, I just wanted
to mention that there needs to be limited 'wiggle' in any of the constrained
axis, else you'll be chasing inter-scope collimation more than expected.
However I am certain you've already put incredible thought into this, and I
most likely need not have mentioned it! ;)

How about some very "Opinionated and Subjective" thinking for you:

My dual 7.75" bino-scope has the same surface area as a single 11" scope.
However I believe the images formed compare closer to those formed by a 14"
scope. (Yes, this is a very speculative and subjective observation, based
on many variables. It is however, what I observed!)

Your soon to be dual 22" bino-scope has the same surface area as a single
31" scope. Consequently if my observations are correct, and the observation
I made is linear, I would expect your scope to perform more like a single
40" scope! (WOW)

Take Care,
