Sounds to me that you are gradually learning the various strokes necessary
to get the parabolic curve into the glass.  From the question, it sort of
sounds like you aren't getting the full parabola in and things are moving
about.  It's just a matter of getting a little more radical digging out the
center by doing the strokes that do that a bit more.  Don't forget that just
having a deep center doesn't make the curve correct as you need all of the
other zones correct also.  Things can and will go fast at one point and slow
at other points.
The job can be a very frustrating one for the firsttimer because things do
not go exactly according to Hoyle every time.
