Now take the glass outside with a piece of polaroid (sunglasses?) and use
the reflection of the sun on a car windshield (the more glancing the light
the stronger the polarization) through the glass and then the polaroid and
do the crossed polarizer test on the glass just to make sure that the glass
isn't stressed.  If it is, then you know where the astigmatism is coming
from and if it isn't stressed (probably not) then you now know the
importance of walking the barrel in grinding and polishing a piece of glass.
