Re: ATM New to list

Bill,

A cotton Q-tip dipped in acetone works great. Use as little acetone as possible. You don't want the Q-tip soaking wet. The first Q-tip will get 75% of it. Throw that Q-tip away and use successive Q-tips to get the last remaining marks off.

Subject: ATM New to list

Hello all,

I'm new to the list, but have used the archives extensively to construct my first telescope.  It's a 10" f/6 (University Optics primary) completed leap day '00.

I want to thank everyone for indirectly contributing to it's success!

My question is how do I remove a botched center dot on the secondary?  I used a Sanford Sharpie fine point permanent (hopefully not) marker and slipped (naturally) when doing so.  I shrugged it off at the time because I was so eager for first light, but now the guilt is setting in.  Besides, I may just take this opportunity to offset anyways, or shouldn't I bother on a f/6 system (1.83)?

In lieu of an 18" mirror to cure the aperture-fever, I will be constantly modifying the 10 to help cure the less malicious tweak-fever.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Clear Skies,
Bill
