ATM Cheap Polar Mounting

The other day I was reading information on amateur SETI, and one of the
documents mentioned that satellite dishes were on polar mounts. Well,
that night, a light went off in my head. Polar mount is an equatorial
mount. So I was wondering how feasible would it be to use a satellite
mount as a telescope mount? The accuracy might not be perfect, but a
AO-7 from SBIG or something could be used. Has anybody tryed this?
