Yep, no good reason, they even make it here (well the Schott glass anyway),
so importing it isn't the cause of the high price, the E6 is imported (as an
art glass for boro glass blowers) though, so I can sort of understand the
price being higher, but not this high!

If I understood this correctly, Oscar has a price of about a half
a Euro per kilogram, while you have a price of $45AU per kilogram,
with an (just checked) exchange rate of about 10 $AU to 6 Euro.
If true, that does seem a bit extreme.
