I sent a note to Newport Glass today to figure out pricing on grit for an 
8" mirror.  They got back to me in a manner of hours.  WB also got my 
catalog to me fairly quickly.  I called Monday and it arrived today 
(Friday).  With Thanksgiving in there that wasn't too bad for old style 
business.

What irks me are the companies that put up a web site without pricing 
(Newport) or without their product set (WB).  It makes it difficult to do 
the shopping and to compare apples to apples.  I am one of those people 
that does as much of the shopping as possible on the web.  My last few car 
purchases have been done mainly on the web with the stop at the dealership 
being just to sign the papers and get the car.  Companies that don't answer 
their email also don't get my business.  I have been using the web since 
Mosaic was still beta and have had an email address from when they were 
arguing whether to use bang addressing or domains.

On the shopping front - Newport is best price on the glass (8" full 
thickness pyrex) and Go Grit is best on the abrasives (by a lot).  This is 
including shipping estimates.
