Hi Ross,
I don't know about "clever". I usually find that after
"I" think of or create something I think is unique,
that I discover someone else already has the T-shirt!
Just standing on others' shoulders is all.

Both Don and Jan are correct. This style of Crayford
is really easy to create with minimal equipment. They
also perform really well (all things considered). They
ARE subject to issues with grit and wear, but they are
fairly durable and easy to adjust and repair in the
field.

Just my 2 bits.
