The problem isn't flexing the glass but rather holding it during
handling, etc.
If you're worried, go get a piece of single thikness glass and
hang a secondary weight in the middle of the glass and see how
much it takes to break the glass.
The rreasin you don't have  to worry too much for flexing is that
you can counterbalancew the secondary so that it doesn't want ot
bend the glass one way or the other which leaves only the
pressure on the glass to move it to the side.  In addition,
curbving the whole glass surface by a bit only shifts the color
imagee a little bit and that is all pretty much inside the Airy
Disk area.
