[ATM] Fwd: Re: Subject: light weight mirrors--mylar!
Most of the discussions (maybe all of them) have gotten so far out of hand that the original goal was forgotten. Generally they start out as "I think I can degrease the weight of the mirror by..." then the conversation takes a life of it's own and everyone seems to forget that to do the weight reduction of a couple of pounds of glass they end up adding an expensive computer system, actuators, drivers, couplings etc all of which require mass doses of power to operate and cost thousands or millions of dollars to realize.
Just get a piece of glass and deal with it!
