[ATM] Varathane-- the verdict is in

The verdict is in.   Eight hours ago I painted some varathane on a scrap
piece of wood that had been lightly sanded.   The coat is now dry, not at
all tacky.  It is hard enough to pass the thumbnail test.   So the verdict
is INNOCENT.

I now suspect that the oil based stain that I was painting over was the
problem.  Somehow it prevented the varathane from hardening.

Thanks to all for advice.  I am moving on now to a furniture refinish job
and will finish that before I get back to the next generation tube.
