You might want to stop by the model airplane shop and pick up
some Monocoat or similar stuff and coat it with that.  It's a
plastic film that you apply to the surface of a wing or such on
model airplanes and is nice and shiney and does a good job of
making things nice and beautiful.  You do need to have a smooth
surface to put it on gho as it will telegraph any defects through
to the surface.
