The diffraction spikes might be a bit on the heavy side, though...

be favourable as the diffraction "spikes" would spread out.
I remember Richard Schwartz mentioning problems with thermal stress up to
the point of breakage if heat transfer between front and back plate is too
small. Apparently that wasn't a problem with Willems mirror, so maybe the
glue joints are flexible enough to accomodate for thermal stress. This could
also contradict neccessary dimensional stability but I imagine 2 mm glass
thickness for the support structure will also yield a quite flexible
arrangement.
