Hi Dan,
        I recently did the same thing to my Meade 8" F/6 (longer F/L 
than yours). I use six struts made from 1/2" aluminum conduit that Home 
Depot sells. I think there is only one size, it was dirt cheap at around 
$2.00 or so for 10 feet. It worked very well, might even be slightly 
overkill. I have no collimation problems at all after the rebuild, so no 
flexing in the struts.
