I have a unique etching process applied to aluminum parts before anodizing
to give a micro-stippled surface texture to my satin black anodized focuser
parts. Satin black anodized parts, combined with the appropriate geometry,
can rival painted coatings in terms of "flat black".  A satin black anodized
surface, however is much more durable than a painted surface. I also
personally like the appearance of the new satin black anodized surfaces over
"polished" anodized surfaces for aesthetic reasons.
