Re: [ATM] Voice coil actuators

One thought I could contribute is that if the coil can generate
vibration and there is force behind this, then the coil itself
could maybe drive the polishing by forcing particles against
the glass surface. In other words, the polishing agent would be
directed against the surface by same physical principles as
Brownian motion. In this case, molecular volume (V) and its
relation to particle rotation and motion are defined by the
Stokes and Perrin equations, etc. Adding vibration to the system
should increase particle motion. I have not thought much on
this, but I think the underlying physics is pretty obvious to a
lot of people here. I guess the voice coil could serve as a kind
of sandblaster replacement. On the other hand, I have toyed
around with more conventional techniques to blast particles onto
the glass, so my voice coil proposal is little more than a
high-tech modification of a technique most of us already grasp.
