[ATM] Cementing the core back in place
After trepanning, I cemented my cores back in place using silicon, tried a
few wets of 120, and I'm not getting a good feeling about how much give
there is in the bond.
I'm not worried about the bond breaking loose. I am concerned about getting
the whole way into the end of polishing only to discover that the
flexibility in the silicon bond has made the core completely inneffective at
preventing a turned down inner edge.
I'm thinking about going with the approach that Texereau describes using
plaster of paris and a lacquer coating. I originally wanted to use the
silicon because it was not water soluble.
What do all of you use?
With a rigid plaster bond, would you recommend continuing spherometry on the
center of the disk or to avoid measuring on the core?
Any trouble with a plaster bond breaking loose during the pressures of
polishing?
